Psoriasis is associated with the skin areas developing in to salmon pink patches covered with greyish scales. They can normally be observed on the elbows, knees and scalp but can appear on other parts of the body too. These patches can vary in size but most people get small patches of irritated skin. Causes:
Although the phenomenon is not completely understood yet, it is alleged to be associated with the immune system since it attacks the healthy skin cells in people with psoriasis. It can run in families but the exact role of genetics has not been uncovered yet. Sometimes certain situations can cause a ‘trigger’ effect which can lead to psoriasis such as an injury or using certain medicines.
